S4K 2021 Gala
Styles 4 Kidz recently celebrated their annual gala We’re in this Together. The theme this year had various components that were highlighted with stories and speakers; Together we expanded, we cooperated, we empowered, we innovated, we led, & we impacted. Transracial adoptive adoptees, parents, board members, and founder and executive director Tamekia Swint and various stylists shared throughout the night that was both in person and a virtual night inviting supporters into more of the work at S4K. This year there was a beautiful interpretive dance to the reading of Your Hair is Your Crown book by Sydney Sewell. In 2021 alone S4K served 1,293 children and young people, 292 families, held 43 workshops, and provided 4,071 services at the salon. They are serving and innovating continually and it is an honor to document their journey.
