You’ve got the offer. The website. The social media accounts. The mission and passion.
You’re great at what you do—but your visuals? They’re… fine… or maybe a bit ….meh.
Or at least, they used to be fine. Now you’re realizing that your photos might actually be holding you back from standing out in your industry.
If you’ve ever looked at your brand presence and thought,
“This doesn’t quite feel like me anymore,” you’re not alone AND you’re not wrong.
Here are the top 5 reasons entrepreneurs and business owners come to me for a brand storytelling session (and what might be missing from your own visuals.)
You’ve spent a lot of time (and probably money) figuring out your niche, your offer, and knowing your value but when it comes to showing that visually? You’re stuck at a headshot.
You’ve outgrown the basic headshots. You want photos that tell a story, show your process, and share the energy behind your work. Because generic just doesn’t cut it anymore.
📸 What to do: Work with a photographer who helps you map your message to your visuals. You someone who doesn’t just pose you for a bunch of headshots, but helps you translate your brand essence and personality into scroll-stopping imagery.
You’re over stock photos that “kinda” work. Over selfies and poorly lit phone shots. Over the hours it takes to make something look semi-decent in Canva. You post the same images over and over.
And this is a hard truth but DIY visuals tell the story of a lower end DIY business. Let’s elevate!
It’s not just draining your energy—it’s slowing your momentum. You’re building a real brand, and real brands deserve more than last-minute placeholders or posting the same images over and over again.
📸 What to do: Batch high-quality content that actually aligns with your marketing plan. One well-planned session can fuel your feed, your website, your sales pages, and more for 6months to a year.
Even if you’ve had brand photos done before, you might’ve been left with a gallery full of pretty pictures or slight variations on a headshot… and zero idea how to use them effectively.
No post ideas. No context. No connection to your launch plan or website strategy.
For all Brand Storytelling Sessions I create a Session guide including inspo images, locations, a and prop list. We need a strategic plan if we are going to create impactful visuals for your brand.
📸 What to do: Ask your photographer if they offer support beyond the shoot; like pre-planning help, A brand session guide, shot lists with strategy in mind, or even post-session usage guides (I do!). Also ask if your photographer offers recommendation or a team of other resources of others skilled in their field (like a website designer, social media strategist, fashion stylist, etc) to help you elevate (I do!).
You shouldn’t be left guessing. I want my clients to feel supported every step of the way!
You’re not trying to look stiff, corporate, or like someone else in your industry. You want to look elevated and confident—without losing the real you in the process.
📸 What to do: Prioritize personality-driven photos. Think: what would make someone feel like they know me before they’ve even worked with me?
You’ve grown. You’ve evolved. You’re no longer in the “just getting started” phase and your photos need to reflect that. Ask yourself: is this a hobby business or a legit business? Act accordingly.
Maybe your business has expanded. Your audience has shifted. Your offers have grown. Your brand identity is getting clearer. But your visuals still say “version 1.0.” We can fix that! Growth is part of entrepreneurship and your brand visuals should match your current brand.
📸 What to do: Align your visuals with your next-level goals. Let me help you and cheer you on to show up as that version of you! Your photos should match not just who you are today, but who you’re becoming.
If you’re feeling this post deeply… that’s a sign it’s time to shift from “meh” visuals to BOLD and ALIGNED ones. I got you!
You don’t need a million photos. You need the right images, ones that tell your story, elevate your brand, and help the right people say yes faster.
