When Helen reached out and shared some of her family’s story I knew their session would be special and sacred. She described their family as a normal “Korean-America-ish” family of 5 plus their grandparents. Their lives radically changed when their daughter Anna was born in December 2019 with the diagnosis of trisomy 13. When Anna was born Helen and Joon were told she would most likely only live a couple of weeks. Only 5% of children with this rare diagnosis live to turn 1 year old. The trials of living in a constant state of trying to be ready to say goodbye Helen described as the “most difficult month of our lives. But Anna LIVES!” She turned 10 months old the day before our session at their home. They describe her as “our miracle baby!” and when I arrived and began and chatting to her brothers Noah told me “my sister is so beautiful!” Her brothers adore her and Anna is indeed beautiful and dearly loved.
Helen shared, “God has shown His glory and fierce love for Anna and we are grateful that He chose us for this journey even though it is hard. We want to take this opportunity to capture our love for Anna and we appreciate so much the everyday, the mundane, the walks, and the breeze that Anna enjoys so much. She cannot see but she can definitely hear and feel and we are surrounding her with prayers and love everyday.”
Thank you Cha Family & thank for inviting me to capture your family right now. This family is so strong, gentle, and loving. It radiates from them. I am constantly in awe of the people doing hard, ordinary, & courageous things in their everyday lives that I am invited to capture. You inspire me in ways you will never fully understand.
Helen’s kind words bless me so much, “Roxanne was a godsend to our family. I came across her work randomly as I was checking out one of my colleagues’ beautiful profile picture taken by Roxanne and instantly wanted beautiful pictures of my own, too. After checking out more of Roxanne’s amazing work on her website and Instagram, I knew I wanted to book right away. I contacted Roxanne with inquiries and she was very quick to respond. I was so thankful Roxanne was more than happy to drive all the way out to our home in Buffalo Grove to meet our unique family needs. I have a medically fragile baby with a life limiting diagnosis along with two very energetic & healthy toddler boys and our time as a family is very precious to say the least. Roxanne made sure to go over the details, answer all my questions and really get to know me and my family before our session – she even helped me pick the kids outfits as I texted her a bunch of pictures at the mall! Our session was perfect and beautiful. Roxanne took her time with us, and we absolutely loved her energy and enthusiasm. Most importantly, we are SO in love with our pictures. I was in tears when Roxanne sent me the gallery (in just a few days!) as she captured exactly all I wished she could and more and turned our moments into masterpieces. I’m so thankful I found Roxanne. She is not only punctual, professional, and extremely talented, but also a kind person with a genuine heart. I recommend Roxanne to everyone without hesitation. Thank you, Roxanne!”
Blessings Cha Family!
At the end of our time Helen ran inside and gifted me a bag of Korean spicy ramen because she had read on my website that I ADORE spicy food (addicted might be a better word). It was such an unexpected blessing to me. So grateful for this work & the amazing people I partner with!
