Jodhpur was one of my favorite places we visited during our time in India. It is known as the “sun city” or the “blue city” because of the many blue houses painted blue around the fort in the old city. Jodhpur is near the center of Rajasthan and attracts many people from India and the world.
The vivid colors that only India can do are on display and pop against the blue houses and the result is absolutely beautiful and unique. This city is rather large but feels like a small town with people inviting you over for tea down every new alleyway. My days exploring the narrow passages and streets blessed me so much as did the outrageous hospitality we were shown everywhere. Families invited me in and shared food, time, and blessing with me. I explored the alleyways, had samosas with shop owners, got tours of homes and temples, drank chai way too many times each day, ate spicy street food, and tried to capture some daily life in the “blue city.” Here are some images from my time in Jodhpur.
I’m a visual storyteller photographing emotion, connection, and the beauty in the messy.
