“heaven touched earth”
Being invited into your sacred and holy moments is the greatest gift of being a visual storyteller and photographer. Birth is one of those moments and the Prince Family invited me to photograph the moments their second daughter Hadassah entered this world at their home in Chicago. I was checking in and watching my phone the week leading up to her arrival eagerly waiting with my gear packed and ready. It was an absolute beautiful night and Erin’s calm and bold strength and faith showed as she delivered her baby girl with the support and strong presence and assurance of Tryce, all while Nanyori (soon to be big sister sept in the room next door). With the knowledge and support of midwives Erin and Tryce welcomed Hadassah into the world in a birthing pool set up in their bedroom and I was blessed to photograph this part of their unfolding story. Hadassah is beautiful and welcomed into such a loving family.
Erin shared on her Instagram, “I believe birth resembles a lot of what heaven on earth could possibly feel like. a sheer moment in time where it feels like there is light amongst darkness. this home birth experience exceeded my expectations and I am at a loss for words.
to have the honor of bringing our beautiful daughter into this world within the comfort of our own bedroom is a memory I will hold dear for the rest of my days. the Lord was present and my strength in my weakness. there’s so much beauty in childbirth. the hard, raw, vulnerable, intense kind of beauty.

Erin shared, I can’t even put into words how much we honor and appreciate having these pictures of such a vulnerable and special moment in our lives. Roxanne not only served us in being our photographer but our friend. Her presence alone brought peace into our birth and her encouragement and willingness to do anything we needed didn’t go unnoticed. She has brought value to our lives once again. Roxanne is truly amazing and the stories she tells behind the camera help you to reconnect with moments over and over again. It’s something you could never say thank you enough for. When I’m pregnant again, I’ll definitely be begging her to come back and do it again!“
